Best known as the songwriter and front-man for Markham’s Future History and Man Made Forest, Kevin’s musical influences are vast and unexpected, this can be felt in the songs he writes and performs. His lyrics are deep and ominous yet trigger powerful emotional reactions from those who engage.
In 2008 Kevin began writing material for his first solo record. With a collection of 12 songs he reached out to old friend and drummer, Justin Dillon. The two spent a fair amount of time recording the ideas at North of Seven Studio with engineer Robin Short. The intensity and vibe they captured in those sessions were a mere foreshadow of things to come.
In 2009, Kevin and Justin formed Future History. They released their debut EP a year later. The 7 song, organic record featured a cameo from Human Kebab (USS) and was well received by fans and critics alike. Featured on Alan Cross’ EXPLORE Music and multiple Edge 102 showcases, it was an organic look at what this band could create..a taste of things to come. Subsequent performances landed the band a supporting slot on the Marcy Playground tour and a “Best Live Band” nomination at the TIMA’s (Toronto Independent Music Awards)
In early 2011, Future History headed back to Chalet Studio (Rush, Barenaked Ladies) to record a full length follow up to their 2010 EP. They spent 10 months meticulously carving out a record, weaving a dystopian story-line through it’s core. The album was titled Loss:/self
Loss:/self featured special guests Todd Clark (Pilot Speed), Kevin Pullen (The Dunes) and Jonathan Dauphinais (Beast). The final tracks were handed over to gold record and multiple Juno award winner, Laurence Currie (Sloan, Hey Rosetta, Wintersleep) for the final mixing stage. In April, 2012 Future History released Loss:/self to a sold out Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.
As an individual Kevin has become a staple in the local music community. He hosts three weekly open mics at The Duchess in Markham, The Earl of Whitchurch and The Unionville Arms. In July of 2012 he completed a concept inspired back in 2009. Kevin wanted to connect his deep rooted passion for music, his knowledge of the music industry and his vast network of friends and artists into one active and inspired community. He wanted to build a community with the strength to make incredible things happen. Epidemic Music Group was officially born.
Epidemic Music Group is now a spiralling musical organism. From producing records to organizing music festivals, hosting incredible community driven open mics to putting on the longest concert in recorded history. EMG continues to grow at rapid pace.
In 2016, Kevin teamed up with Justin Dillon, Todd Larter, Sarah Fazackerley and Pete Reid to create a lush and intense project they called “Man Made Forest.” The band toured the record and headlined several festivals through the summer. The album continues to impact people as it travels the ether.
