KEVIN KER — PRODUCER
Kevin Ker is a Canadian producer, engineer, songwriter and creative collaborator with more than twenty years of professional recording experience.
What began as a personal pursuit – finding ways to capture the sounds and ideas in his own music – developed into a lifelong fascination with recording, arrangement, mixing and the creative possibilities of the studio. Ker approaches production as an extension of the songwriting process, helping artists identify what makes their work distinctive and building a sonic world around it.
His production and recording credits include projects involving Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace / Saint Asonia, The Beresfords, Hollowsage, Kevin Pullen of The Dunes, Kyle Wallace, Future History, Man Made Forest, Trip Liminal and the solo concept album The Unraveling of the Drifting Cosmonaut.
Known for an experimental and highly collaborative approach, Ker is particularly well suited to artists who want to move beyond conventional production. His sessions have taken place in professional studios, forests, remote cabins, abandoned buildings and other unconventional environments – wherever a project’s story and sound need to be captured.
Ker works primarily through The Chandelier Room, EMG’s recording and creative-development studio in Harmony Hall. His work has received consecutive Album of the Year honours at the OMAs, nominations from the Toronto Independent Music Awards, recognition from Rock 95 and Record of the Year honours from Open ’til Midnight.
From a single-song session or demo to a complete EP or album, Ker works with artists through songwriting, arrangement, pre-production, recording, mixing and overall creative development.
